LE1 Uprgades

I wanna get into the 12's with a 95 m6 f-body. First of all, will the budget LE1 set up be enough to get me around 12.8? Also, I can't run w/o cat's and still pass inspection, right? So what could I expect if I kept the cat, or got a high flow cat (would that pass inspection?)?

All help is greatly appreciated.

btw. if you think there's a better way to 12's plz, tell me... i've got much more time than $, am willing to learn and boneyard parts

Do you have any mods at all to start with? The LE1 is nice for the money, but seeing as you have a M6, it might not get you there without some other necessary parts. A4's have an easier time when it comes to good 60ft. times and the stock rearend. You need traction to be quick, and the stock rearend does not like sticky tires and high RPM clutch dumps.

i agree , you don't need heads or a power adder to go 12's , deep 12's with a nitrous grind from comp in this video from years ago. yes this was a steet car , hell he drove it from n.c to M.I.R and we raced back doing 150mph with no issues. (nice long straight road with no side roads at all, that was actually in mexico

If you don't have a cat installed on your car, you have a slim chance in ever passing inspection. Put a high flow cat on there at least, they don't rob that much power or even cost that much.

great help so far

thank you, this is very informative... it's a stock m6 so far, i don't mean deep 12's I mean 12.8's, 12.9's. What's the cheapest route, sans nitrous... and d.o.t tires?

1.6 rr's
lt4 valve springs
free mods
full exhaust (long tube headers, ory)
pcm tune
sticky tires
cai
lt4 knock module

or
a good nitrous setup

Questionable mods:
stock throttle body ported to 52mm
electric water pump

Things that might break:
clutch
rear end

Good driving, sticky tires, and some basic bolt-on mods can get you to your goal.

Off-road y-pipe. Its basically a y-pipe without the cat(s).

howdya pass emissions? some of the wrenches in my family work for the PD (one has a badge, and one is a mech. for the cruisers), so I'm gonna keep the illegal mods limited to a CAGS eliminator

With an ORY pipe, you most likely won't pass emissions.

Cats don't rob alot of power, a few horse most likely. Follow the suggestions that everyone posted and you should reach your goals.
