Re: Le1 heads and cam

The LE1 is not emissions legal unless you get the emissions cam for it. A good combination would be the LE2 heads and the LE emissions cam.

Shoot Lloyd an email with your questions. I know he has an Emmission cam.

Re: Le1 heads and cam

all of the cams (LE1, LE1 Emissions, LE2, LE3, etc) all cost the same to produce and the heads are the maindifference in prices of each head and cam package.

We actually do custom cams on each set up for customers but the LE1, 2 and 3 are very common set ups that fit alot of peoples needs. We do not charge anything extra when doing "custom" cams since every one we do is pretty much a custom cam for that set up.

actual dyno #'s will vary depending the rest of the set up but the emissions version of the LE1 cam will be about 10 HP less than the standard LE1 cam. If the car MUST pass emissions, you really have no choice though.

With the LE2 heads it allows us to do more to get you where you want to be in terms of camshaft.

Lloyd, that cam that you sent me, is that emissions freindly or not? I do not have to worry about emissions so I would not want to loose out on the 10 hp or so.

Re: Le1 heads and cam

No unless you specifically ask for a emissions cam you get a standard LE cam.

yep, it needs to be asked for or discussed and decided on to get the emissions cam.

I prefer to give the customers thje better performing cam also unless it is just required to pass emissions.

What makes the cam able to pass emissions.. does it have a smaller lift or something?

Re: Le1 heads and cam

timing events are changed up a lil to reduce the overlap. This will effect how much unburnt fuel the exhaust gets and how well the emissions test comes out. This cam passes pretty easy (about like the CC 305, XE 224/230, etc) and still offers great power.

I have had a few people pass with good "hands on" tuning and the standard LE1 cam although emissions tests are stiffer in some areas and I feel if the car "MUST" pass emissions, it is better to get a cam that WILL pass instead of tryoing to get a slightly larger cam that will "barely pass" but end up "barely failing".
