Le Vs Ai!!!!!

Which heads are better?!?!? Alot of people on this site like the LE's but what about AI?? Does anyone have flow numbers and/or dyno results with these? The AI heads seem to make more hp but the hardware sounds like it is not as good as the LE's(i.e. AI uses "High-Performance .570" lift springs with 4130 Steel retainers" versus LE's "Comp Beehive Springs & Titanium Retainers"). Just when I thought I had my mind made up and was going to buy the LE's I am unsure again. Help me out here!!! THANKS, Jason.

You can get AI's with whatever hardware you want on them.

Here's my AI Full Port flow #'s. I have the titanium retainers, Comp 977 springs...Phil will match the head hardware to whatever you want to run the motor.

You really can't and won't go wrong with either one. Lloyd was very responsive and helpful when I was going through trying to decide who I was going to go with. I ended up going with AI with a fully California smog legal setup with dyno numbers in my sig.

The guys at Ai were patient and put up with me as this was the first time I had ever done work on a LT1 (Demonbird on this board did most of the heavy lifting so I have to give him a plug and much thanks for helping me)

My flow numbers are almost identical to the one above.

I am working with the Ai guys to see if I can get closer to 400, we shall see and I'll keep my numbers updated

BTW Here is the same thread I started a long time ago when I was trying to decide, so good luck Here

I agree.
In additon, I'd say that threads like this usually do nothing except turn good vendors/loyal customers against each other. My advise would be to e-mail/call both vendors get their thoughts/prices/deadlines, then use the search function, then PM a couple of their past customers, then decide what works best for you.

Actually now that Ai has dropped the price of their heads and cam packages it makes it almost impossible not to go with them.

Re: Le Vs Ai!!!!!

On a note here guys.... in terms of flow numbers.

Two of the best head porters in the country CFE (Carl Foltz) and Chapman both have heads that flow less than others on the same castings, but make more power. Flow numbers aren't everything.

On the Ai vs. LE topic.... obviously I'm biased since I work closely with Lloyd, so I have my own opinions about the valvetrain side of it. I have worked with two Ai customers in this thread (LT4POWR and Dave88LX) and have had both of their heads on my bench.... I don't have the numbers on me right now but I will see how close Daves numbers are to what I flowed on my bench. I've had Lloyds stuff on my bench as well and from what I remember both come very close to their advertised numbers... but as I said flow numbers dont mean everything.

Look at the total package and the money you spend on it and go from there.

tardy007 is dead right, you can't go wrong with either, both are reputable vendors with many happy customers.
