LE Heads Stock Bottom End/Nitrous Carnage Pics

Well, I grenade the car about 3 months ago. I just now got around to tearing the motor apart. Here is the carnage....
Block Picture

LE Head

Another Cylinder Head View

Stock Piston, Head Valve and Ring Remains

So, it looks like I basically have to start from scratch with a new build. I knew the motor couldn't tolerate 6K clutch dumps on slicks, on nitrous etc.. forever, but it held for a long time. Now my dilema is do I stay FI with an LT1 or go big cube carb setup with an A3 transmission, trans. brake etc...Anyway, just thought that I would share my pain with everyone here.
Ruined Items List....
(1) LE Head
Engine Block
Intake looks impossible to clean due to a ton of metal inside
I bent hardened pushrod

Did a rocker come loose? I'm betting that the bent pushrod is part of the initial chain reaction...

How long did it hold together? How much nitrous were you pushing? Sounds like a fun time though!

Re: LE Heads Stock Bottom End/Nitrous Carnage Pics

No damge to the pro mag roller rockers at all. All of the damage came from the #2 cylinder (firing order wise) and it had the bent pushrod. I am thinking that I dropped a valve in the head which in turn busted the piston and caused everything else.
EDIT- Also, none of the rockers were loose.

To answer the other question. I ran the car for over a year with this setup. I didn't daily drive it, so there weren't a ton of miles on the setup, but when I did drive it, I drove the hell out of it. I am talking 6K clutch dumps on slicks, 175 shot of nitrous off the line, turning it up to 6800 rpm with the CC306 on nitrous. It ran low 7's in the 1/8th the last time out. I had the driveshaft decide to exit the car at the top of the 1/8 miles which in turn caused a little nitrous "hiccup" which probably started the downfall of the car. It didn't let go until a couple of weeks later though while I was street driving it.

Yes, I have a driveshaft loop. The shaft still managed to beat the torque arm apart and ofcourse ruin the driveshaft. When the shaft came out though the engine over-revved and it was on nitrous at the time.

Wow, very nice job. I thought I had seen the worst blown engine on some fishing show on discovery channel, Deadliest Catch, when one of those things blew up. That takes the cake! Very impressed. Im amazed it lasted that long with 6k 175shot nitrous drag radial clutch drops. I would be satisfied if I were you with how long it lasted.

Looks almost like you floated the valves , are there any other tweaked valves? That head is salvageable.

I doubt that the head is repairable, especially around here. I plan to move up to some TFS heads.

I'd keep em and have them crack tested, then weld in some alum and grind back to shape.
