LE heads go 10s W/TH400

I had a few people ask me to post this over here for your enjoyment

ALL RUNS MADE N/A!

For all the non-believers. The car is setup for a 250 hit and tuned for it also.

SSEFI 380Ci LTx
Hydro Roller cam with Morel lifters
Full NHRA Cert to 8.50
Finally remove A/C
Full MADMAN setup **JUST DO IT!**
Bogarts wrapped in 325 DRs
8in Converter and TH400
NW Diff. Moser 12 bolt W/3.73s

Car hits the scales at 3,500 so it is not a light weight stripper like many we see here.

No changes to the power. Actually dyno'd 16 HP less N/A. No gear change.

Over all I am very happy with how the car ran.

First pass I am yet un-farmilar with the car. I have not made a pass in two years. The car is very different. As I go through tech I tell them I expect MAYBE mid 11s probably high 11s. Hell it is a slow fat pig!

I roll up to the lanes and they wave me up. I go to close the window net and it is all tied up in a knot and I can not get it un-done. I finally shove it under my arm and hope they do not realize I have a cage. This shook me up even more. I roll into the box and do my burn out, it feels good. I get to the Line and nose in...Hit the brake and let off my foot...she does not roll...Lights come down I hold it to the floor on the 3,600 step and then toss the brake!

Both front wheels come up and softly set back down. she is going straight and feels good.

11.06@120 1.48 60ft DAMN! That was off the trailer!

Back in the pitts we check tire air and decide to up the step to 4,000. I get the net all fixed and back in place. I head up. I am still not comfortable and it shows on this pass. I had problems staging and I push the shifter forward instead of pulling it back to get third and hit first! Thank god for a no compression TH400! All that happend is I sit on the 7,200 limiter until I get it into third! Screwed run.

11.26@118 with a 1.52 60ft. On top of that she started missing.

Oh well I hot lap it to see if I can fix my mistake. I drive right up to the box and get the tires hot. I pull to the line and get it up on the brake. BAMM it comes out of the hole high and then starts to break up on its way to 2nd and more on the way to third and at the top end of the track she is not pulling well.

11.25@118 with a 1.52 60ft again.

By now I am thinking I hurt the damn thing. Valve springs maybe. I get back to the pitts and the car is running rough. I shut it off. . then I try to start it again...and the battery is almost dead! WHEEEEW! It takes a while to find some cables and hook it up to the truck . Car gets a long cool down. Battery gets fairly charged...well as changed as the truck can get it. We take the two step back down to 3,400 and head back out again. I am starting to feel beter but still not at ease in the car. I get the tires hot and pull to the line.the guy next to me pre stages, so do I. He starts to flicker the bulb so I stage....ten seconds later he is STILL Flickering the bulb and they bulb him and send the tree. I had just came down off the brake and was going to back out but now ease it back to the floor and toss the brake. Car feels clean. I tap the limiter on the 1-2. I kiss it a little harder on the 2-3 shift. I go out the back door at 11.04@121.18 with a 1.50 60ft. MUCH Better.

I head back to the pits and we hook the car up to a real generator and battery charger. She is taking 30 amps! We let it charge and turn the fans and water pump on. we get it down to a 5 amp draw and we are running out of time. I turn the two step up to 3,800 to see if we can recover the 60ft we are missing. I get in the car and head up to the lanes and pull into the box. Nice burn out and roll to the line next to Hockie Stripes(Plinker) for a good run. We both go right in like we should no F-ing around here! We stage and both pull the trigger. Car comes up almost a foot and sets back down real nice. and goes dead straight! I ****** the 1-2 shift perfect
I tap the limiter just a hair on the 2-3 and go through the traps. Stripes flys by me in the shut down(must need brakes:eek2: ). I pull up to the slip box and get greeted with a 10.97@121.18 1.483 60ft slip! Yeah baby!

I have many people to thank. Arron, Thor, Jimbob, Doug, Mark, Bill, MADMAN and many more!

Some more chassis tuning and fix small issue and the we will hose it

VERY nice man.

Any plans on weight reduction?

Also wondering what the "full madman" is about?

Thanks Guys!

82 is correct MADMAN makes the best setup out there IMHO for hooking one of these cars. There were some big tire cars out there last night who were not hooking as well as i was.

BTW 82 you know you REALLY want a 9sec turbo car

I am still looking to take more wieght out I just have to figure out where. I would like it at 3,300 with the bottles in it. Bottles add 55Lbs

What is a boy to do!

so, your running his torque arm, control arms, and panhard bar?
What are you doing for shocks/springs, etc?

Have you ever looked at smith performance?
They offer an "ultimate traction bar" that i am looking at running coming up soon.

MADMAN stuff is not for the faint of heart and know how to get the job done. I have tried some of the 'Traction bar' setups and was just not happy. Thats just me. I took a BMR off, we will keep it for road racing.

MADMANs setup is a full floated detacted adjustable TQ arm. I have NOT seen any one break one yet even running low 7s.

I am Happy with it. Nothing against all the others I just wanted some thing that was proven and had great support. I called Brain last satureday and he gave me info and then called me back when I was on the scales to explain to the chassis guy up here how it worked and how to adjust it.

That is anouther nice thing. it is easy to adjust and is MUCH more adjustable then the other stuff I looked at. When I call Brain told me all I needed was the TQ arm but I wanted to update the rest so I bought the package deal. Over the last Nine months Brain Has answered every question I have had and helped more then one would think. I have bought other part from him as well since then and will give them any business I can.

Brian has also setup many of the fastest cars out there even with outer peoples parts.

Going to head back out this weekend if weather permits. No juice runs but I hope to get a better feel for the car

Nice job Ellis. I have the bottom shock mounts that turn them around 90° and my car seems to like that. Do you have those also?

If anyone had a wife that looks like that, they probably wouldn't have a car in the 10s! They would never be out in the shop to work on the car!

Also, good job on the 10.97, the car sounds great on the video! What are the specs on your HR cam and who's cam is it? Also, what kind of DA do you have there in the great Northwest?

I like my XFI-292 HR, but I see a SR in my near future along with LLoyd doing some work on my AFR-195s.
