l98 vs lt1 weight

l98 vs lt1 weight

I know the lt1 weighs about 520 with all accesories and what not, but how much does an l98 weigh?

I would say about 40 lbs more due to the iron heads on an L98. Other than that, I wouldn't guess much of a difference.

? I thought they had aluminum heads..or was that just the vettes? Anyone know for sure what they weigh?

just vettes

they may weigh a bit more because their air pump was with a pully, we have light weight pistons, opti is a bit lighter, ect

i have a shipping receipt for a ZZ4 somewhere that probably has the wieght on it. its pretty much a aluminum headed L98. stock fbody L98s had iron heads, stock mid 86-91 vette L98s had aluminum.

I have a book at home that has that info in it; unfortunately, I'm at sea right now so I can't look this up again. However, if I'm not mistaken, it said that the L98 is about 20lbs lighter than the LT1; and I'm assuming both had the aluminum heads for the measurement.

thats alot. The block itself is only like 146 lbs or somethign. Crank rods and alum heads weigh 300 lbs>?

it had a waterpump, flywheel, dampner, alt, pwr steering pump, ac comp, tensioner, and a air pump /w brackets. plus they left the belt on so that added a good half a pound

I've heard the figure as low as 450# for an early L98, who knows if that is all inclusive though.
