Kooks or Jet Hot?

I know that the Jet Hot LT's are respectable and great long tubes. But I went to a F Body shop the other day and the owner says Jet Hot LT's aren't that good and Kooks blow them away... they make more power and the coating is much more durable.

Is this all true? Is it worth the extra cash for the Kooks? When I do the LT's, I want to do them right...

By the way, it was 1 3/4 Primary Kook vs. 1 3/4 Primary Jet Hots... same size, just different design/brand name.

Thanks

Re: Kooks or Jet Hot?

Ive heard of Jet Hot coating coming off of their LT's. From what Ive had experience with, I can say that TPiS and Finish Line Performance LT's are definitely worth the money. I think that Kooks needs to get their LT1 LT's out there and have a few people use them before anyone can really speak on them. Yea Kooks has had a great product for LS1's, but that cant really speak on LT1's

Re: Kooks or Jet Hot?

I can speak on the kook lt1's, I have them, and I have also had FLP and installed many sets of hooker and jethots, and the Kooks blows them allll out of the water by far. I thought my flps were ok, untill I realized I had to pull the damn header off the header in order to change plugs, plus their coating is crap, and flakes and dulls really fast. Overall I was not happy with the FLP's. It is not possible to compare the kooks to the jet hots. The jet hots are a cool header for the price, but if you want to do it right like you said, get the same kooks I have 1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8 stainless steel, you wont be dissappointed. They have the best plug access I have ever seen, and you would have to dukes of hazzards your car in order to bottom out. Send me an e-mail to deenasty83@comcast.net, i will be glad to take pics of my setup and show you anything you want, you will be extremely happy with the results..

yes they offer coating, egr and air, 3 or 3 1/2 collector, and y pipe with or without cats. But i dont suggest coating when you can get stainless. unless you get stainless coated!

Re: Kooks or Jet Hot?

Anyone with Kook's headers and lowering springs? I thought I was stuck with running shorty's but I keep hearing about how well the Kook's tuck up under the car. Does anyone have any input?

Hey Deenasty, your sig says you have all Spohn suspension. Does the Kooks Y pipe clear the torque arm crossmember, or did you have to get the cross member made for the LT's?

TIA guys

Re: Kooks or Jet Hot?

my car is lowered 1 1/4" all around, with no ground clearance problems. Yes they y pipe clears the crossmember mount, they call it the "g-load brace." I dont have the one for longtubes, because it hung wayy too low. All I did was put some exhaust wrap around the y-pipe so it doesnt make noise if it does hit the driveshaft loop.

My opinion on the FLP's is opposite yours. Were you able to keep spark plug wires from burning on the FLP's you have experience with? How about even getting spark plugs (without considering the typical clearance issues) into the cylinder heads?

There is a reason why FLP doesn't make LT1 headers any longer.

I'm very curious if anyone will be able to substantiate an appreciable difference in power between Kooks and Jet-Hots.

yea the flps you got to route the wires all crazy, and the plug access sucked! Yea there is a reason why they went out of business, and why all of their headers say "out of stock" on their website...out of stock my a$$

Re: Kooks or Jet Hot?

Why not the Pacesetter LT? They have the same specs and use the same solid design as the kooks without the primary that is slip fit. Price and spec wise i say the Pacesetters are a better deal.

I have AS&Ms right now but i'm looken to switch over to the Pacesetters for the design and sparkplug accesibility.

I thought AS&M's were supposed to be the shizzle? What issues do you have with them?

Re: Kooks or Jet Hot?

I have the Pacesetter installed in my car but haven't driven it yet I'm in college away from my car anyways they look really nice and fit excelent and the were really inexpensive. I have heard great things about the Pacesetters. The only thing i'm kind of worry is about ground clearance. Let's see when i test my car after Finals.

1) I bought mine semi used cause it was cheaper and it is for a 93 Fbody (i have 95). Not a biggy.
2) Spark plug accessibilty is a prob.
3) I really don't like the design. It has the one tube thats a slipfit.
4) Wireing to teh spark plugs is a bit of a pain.

The Pacesetters are a one peice design with no slip fit. They have the same specs, except that Pacesetter makes theres with 16 gauge tubing and AS&M makes theres with 14 gauge and Pacesetters coem into a 3" collecters to be used with true dual while AS&M come into a ypipe. If i could do it over again i'd probably go with coated Pacesetters.

But if you want them (the AS&M, headers and ypipe) i'll let them go for 400-450 so that would cover most of my Pacesetter and ypipe expense.

Re: Kooks or Jet Hot?

I heard the Pacesetters and very similar to the Jet Hot LT's...? Not the Kooks?

But is it true that Kooks makes more power to the wheels then any other LT? Plus it'll give me better ground clearance? So I actually COULD lower my car 1" or so? I would like to lower my car... but I want LT's, I'd rather LT's but if I could do both... hell yea!! :meta:

The Pacesetters design and Kooks design are pretty similar. Hooker, Jet Hot, Pacesetter, and Kooks all look pretty similar. Jet Hot/Hooker have a slip fit and Pacesetter/Kooks don't.
