Kooks headers are on!!

I just had Kooks stainless stepped LTs with emissions fittings installed on my car and they are works of art! The fit is fantastic and the car is a whole different animal now...We didn't have time today to put it on the dyno to see a rwhp increase, but my butt dyno says these things really woke up my car. Ground clearance is very good and they even clear my Spohn cross brace mounted TA designed for shorties (the mount goes straight across w/o that dip for clearance that other LTs need.) The only concern is oil filter clearance as it is tight, but as a whole these things are fantastic. I can definitely feel a difference over my shorties, but the dyno will tell us for sure next week, and the track will be the judge next Friday...We'll see what the EWP and the Kooks do for my 11.50s at 118...

I'll post the dyno results and track times soon...

I'll try to get some pictures up...I was so excited today I forgot to take any We still have to get some AN to pipe thread adaptors to hook up the AIR pump stuff, so I'll get some pictures then...I know these things are $$$, but they seem to be worth it...

You get what you pay for. Even though I'm VERY satisfied with my Pacesetters, If someone handed me a pair of Kooks I wouldn't hesitate to get back to lifting my car with a garage jack and 3 blocks of wood and laying under it hoping I don't die...yet at the same time, not so against death stopping the headaches caused..

Re: Kooks headers are on!!

well, you're going to laugh...The rear of my intake has been a problem over the last year and we also wanted to re-seal it. The shop I use can pull an engine from the bottom in under 2 hours, so we just dropped the motor, which made the actual header install about 10 minutes ...The car was down for 2 days because we let the intake gasket set up using a new GM sealant...

Thats awsome. I cant wait to hear what kind of gains you get. I wish I had enough $$ in my budget to upgrade from my hooker lt's, but my budget has already been shattered, lol.

Thats awesome Alan, can't wait till my stroker is installed in about 3 more weeks hopefully and the Kooks are bolted up. Will be a whole different ball game from what I had. Anxious to see your pics, congrats!

Re: Kooks headers are on!!

Yeah, be prepared to break out a block of wood and/or a screw driver to remove the oil filter with the Kooks. Other than that little hassle, I love mine.

I have some pics on my computer at the house that I'll throw on my webshots page if I remember tonight.
