I wish it was really fast though, this code 43 is killing me. Only trapped 102 the first time out, and yes the gas mileage is killing me. In one week-end I filled out the car 3 times. Thank God I also got A CAvalier, that thing keeps my mind in check. Iwould of gone crazy already, trying to figure this one out.

You need to fix that Neil, I bet your car has quite a bit of hesitation, and poor top end pull. Get that fixed man.

Actually Neil, if you are getting code 43, it means that the PCM is not recognizing the sensor at all. It thinks it is connected. You retard values should be in effect at all times. Have you gone to track lately?

I took it a while ago when it was stock, its basicaly stock still but it did 9.1@78 w/ a 2.25 sixty. The code 43 was still on though, one thing I noticed with a hand scaner the minute you clear the code the car sounds different. The ses light never stays on though, it goes off in a few minutes after start up, it also comes on a third of the time I drive the car.

Mine stays on all the time, seems like you have an a short somewhere, that goes on and off as you go through bumps and such.

Alright did the mod, and it worked. No code!! :), but in the process, come to find out my radiator has a small leak on the covers. :mad:

I agree with you, care to enlighten me as to what I need to change in my program. I have the ability to do it myself, just not sure which tables to change for sure.

Pretty simple Q...look for the table that says something along the lines of "Max spark retard vs rpm" or something like that.

Come down to the track tonight and I will give you hand on it if need be. Major spark retard can really kill your times ;)

I am interested in this as well since my mods are getting serious enough where I want to make sure the car gets max hp for the setup.

I was haveing constant problems with false knock so I put the 3.9k resistor in place of the knock sensor. I made sure it was false knock by using 110 octane and scanning the car with a LT4 knock module in place and the computer was still pulling 9 to 12 *.
Once I put that resistor in place the scanner showed 0* being pulled and the car ran so much stronger, It would just pull smooth on a 40mph rollon now it has no traction stabbing the throttle at 40 in second:D . I have put over 15000 miles on the car since I eliminated the knock sensor, plus i didnt need the LT4 knock module anymore so I gave it to my dad for his 96z.

Well I have no timing advanced in my programming, and basically my car is stock. Hovever I've got a really loud exhaust which is a bit loose here and there, and a ES poly tranny mount which vibrates like crazy. I'll try to work on that thing first. Then I'll put some Xilol in the tank, to make sure it's false knock I'm seeing.
At last, when I'll be out of ideas, I guess the only thing left for me will be this resistor mod.

Before you completely disable the sensor, you might want to try replacing it...

I'm going to try fuel, then verify that my plug wires don't get too close to the knock sensor wire, than try a new sensor.

If I can spend $30 on a new one and still have the peace of mind that it will retard for real spark, it's better than disabling it with the resistor.

There's another guy on here looking to put a switch in for the resistor so he can disable at will. Now that sounds like a cool idea to me.

I guess I'll do this resistor mod too if it comes down to that being the only way.

Does anyone on here know about this "switch" idea? Cause that would be an amazing thing, to still have the peace of mind of daily driving picking up knock, but totally getting rid of any retard while at the track, SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!

Anyone have the resistor values that are needed for an OBDII car? Are they even different? How would I find them?

Just do a resistor fix,that way it isn't permanent.

OBD-I knock sensor resistance range is 3300-4500 ohms.

OBD-II knock sensor resistance range is 93K to 107K ohms.
