Knock sensor/block issues
Knock sensor/block issues
So this is my issue.....
I went to put the knock sensor in my new motor and it turns out that it looks like it was partially filled. There was only about 1-2 threads before the knock sensor doesnt go in anymore. I ended up stripping those 2 threads completely out. Is this normal for machine work done on a 383?
I think i need to tap into the block, but i still need to find out what size tap to use. Would it be ok to tap the block as far as shavings in the coolant? The block is already in the car.
Any ideas?

Re: Knock sensor/block issues
Grab your new Knock Sensor and take it to hardware store. Find a nut that fits it and you will presto - have the correct size tap required.
If you drill/tap the hole, then you will have coolant splashing down... so no worry about shavings in your coolant system.
