Knock sensor?

While I was pulling my motor I noticed that one of the wires to the knock sensor had been pulled loose. How will this affect the performance? Does the knock sensor just not work, or does it constantly pull timing? Any input would be appreciated!

I'm pretty sure it pulls a bunch of timing. My car lost a full second and 9 mph from one pass to the next when the knock sensor became unhooked.

My car is a 94 z28. Should there be 1 or 2 wires going into the knock sensor?

There is only one wire going to the knock sensor. It's dark blue.

My guess it is the ground that goes on the block under the #6 plug.
