Finally getting around to start up my new motor,well when I started it my scanmaster at idle said I had 1.5 knock Is that bad?What should be a accecptable level of knock and what is dangerous level of knok?Thanx in advane

 

If you are seeing a constant 1.5° of knock retard, it is picking up something (could be just excess noise). The computer is reducing the advance by 1.5°. Other factors could be if that is just too much timing for your setup (if it has been reprogrammed) or you might have a lean condition.

 

Thank you Rob the car was reprogrammed for my setup.But is 1.5 alot to see just at idle?

IMO, there really should be no reason to be getting knock retard at idle.
