kind a cam for my LT1 94 camaro

i have a z28 camaro that i took the motor out to rebuild but having problems picking a cam out for street use. i would like a decent cam for daily use but adds more HP.. if someone can point me the right direction with a cam and maybe some other parts like rockers, and pushrods.. i have LT1 aluminum heads already and looking to get more HP out of my motor then its got now.. please i need advice thanks

automatic

If you have headers already then depending on $$ you could get an AI install kit and the cam they suggest, or a cc503 is pretty common.

You NEED headers and some other bolt ons in order to make the cam worth anything.

If you don't want headers look into the "cadillac" cam or only the stock cam.

I'd say get a 3600-4k stall and full bolt ons first.

i planned on gettin headers..long or short? is the cc503 a comp cam?

LSWHO 08-18-2010 05:03 PM

depends on emissions.

Longtubes are ideal.

Yes comp cams 503.

Look for a used one. they pop up pretty cheap fairly often. Also you can read up on cam specs and find ones that you like that will do what you want.

ok.. what other bolt ons would you recommend for my z28 with the cam and and the long tube headers? i need to make a list of things so i can get them ordered..i dont want to go to far with it and start having to get aftermarket driveshaft and rearend

Stall, headers, intake, rockers are the big ones.

Stall itself will net the biggest gains.

As far as the rearend... be prepared at any power level.

Stock replacement lifters are the same used in the LS7 engines, so they are plenty for whatever you throw them at.

gearhead90 08-18-2010 05:44 PM

ok thanks...what would be a good intake? and is a aftermarket TB recommended?

RamAir95TA 08-18-2010 06:19 PM

Keep the stock intake manifold.

Do you have a CAI already?

The $$$ for a larger TB would be better off spent elsewhere for just a cam swap.

gearhead90 08-18-2010 06:25 PM

CAI? someone suggested a CC503 and i can get a TB if i need it i just need to know what would be a good TB to use...sorry if i dont know alot about these things..iv not built a performance motor before and im tryin to learn more about this cars motor

gearhead90 08-18-2010 06:58 PM

nevermind had a brain fart yes i have a cold air intake

LSWHO 08-18-2010 08:05 PM

stick with the stock throttle body. Bigger is a huge waste for you.
