Kickdown cable adjustment

ok, so this probably started 4 months ago. i floored it on a turn into a parking lot and it redlined in first gear. (a4). the trans wouldnt shift into second unless i let off the gas and it drops to about 3500-4000 rpm before it kicks to second. then its smooth shifting from there. the transmission is NOT slipping, but rather i think the kickdown cable losened up a little. i looked at chiltons to see how to adjust it or tighten it up, but the pictures arnt clear enough for me.

what i was looking for are some pictures of where i adjust the cable or tighten it up. thanks alot in advance.

If you have a 1994 f-body, there is no cable to adjust. The transmission is electronically controlled. 1993s had a cable, but 94> don't.

they are pretty much crap straight from the factory, yes
but mine has 159k on it and it does good. With a 700r4, 4l60 or 4l60e its like a guessing game kinda like a 7.5 rear

this is something i really didnt want to hear, but i like the honesty.

so how much could i be looking to spend on a rebuild? we dont have a shop or a garage big enough to do it ourselves so we'd probably have to take the car to a shop.

also, will driving the car in a "nice" matter damage the tranny any more then what it is? it only lags back at high RPM and shifts nicely at any other point. i'd like to still be able to use it for transportation while im saving for a rebuild at the same time.

thanks for all the info
