I used to have to clean the internals of my keyfob almost every week, I needed to clean the metal parts and the black rubber looking part so my remote would work.
Well I got tired of that and I stuck some heat shielding tape (the metallic one) on the black rubbery part that contacts the metal part on the little circuit board, and my keyfob work like a charm again.
Hopefully this is useful for someone else.
