Keepers won't budge.
I have the Crane 10308-1 kit installed from a previous cam swap.
I have the heads removed from the TA.
I have tried hitting the tops of the retainers with a rubber mallet, then compressing the spring, but the keepers won't budge where I can get them out with a magnet.
I even put some WD-40 where the valve, retainer, and keepers are, then beat on them again before compressing.
The keepers simply slide down with the retainer and valve.
Anyone have any other methods that have worked with stubborn keepers.

when you say slide down w/the reatainer and valve, what kind of compresser are you using? you need a off the car type that will hold the valve closed while you squeeze down on the retainer. then the valve cant move and the keepers will break free from the retainer. and, how are you hitting on the retainer? I hit on the side of the retainer, not the valve at all. that will help pop it off the keepers which are stuck to the valve also. know what I mean? when the keepers pop free from the retainer, there is a distinct sound difference from when I hit it and it is stil stuck on.
When I took my springs off for the cam swap I used a deep well socket on top of the retainer and hit the socket pretty hard with a hammer. This enabled me to probably get a more direct hit straight down on the retainer.. They came apart with no problem using this method.
