Are you using the correct length pushrod?? Did you mill the heads or run different head gaskets?? Might want to double check your valvetrain geometry with a pushrod length checker.

Comp Cams does in fact make both S/A and Non S/A 1.6 Pro Magnum RR. I have S/A without guideplates in mine.

Just FYI

I appreciate all the replies, I will make sure upon reassembly I pay attention to the flat part of the roller.

There are ears upon the rocker arms some of them have been damaged though when after some of the pushrods popped out.

But as I mentioned before, most of the time the pushrods aren't bent, it's only happened a couple times that I bent one, but when I did it was severely bent

So when putting it back together, go ahead and get some guideplates just for reassurance (and the damaged ears can't help the situation at this point), tighten it until there is no up and down movement at the pushrods and then tighten the allen head and turn the nut a 1/4 turn, and of course make sure I get some hardened pushrods to go with the guideplates.

The general consensus here is that they are over tightened and this procedure I stated above should solve the problems I am having, is this correct?

I always thought you tightened until you have no more up and down movement, then turned the nut 1\4 to preload the lifter. Then tightened the allen head to lock it in place.

Your saying you tightened the allen head, then gave the nut a 1\4 turn. Am i reading that right?

When you bent that pushrod did you pull the lifter? I bet it got the sh#t beat out of it. might possibly have some lobe damage on the cam also.

I agree with everyone else sounds like they were way to tight. Let us know what you find in there.

spinning the pushrods is a method thats been around for years, i think you people need to open your minds up there usually is more then one way to do something.

all you do if spin the rod till you got a fair amount of drag and the tighten it up 1/4 to 1/2 a turn depending on the rockers.
