Keep burning up ICMs
Keep burning up ICMs
Okay to start with last year I had a bad fan motor on the car that shorted out. Soon after this the car started missing and running like crap. What I have done is buy 2 new Advanced Auto ICMs. Minutes after starting the car the ICM is so hot that it melts everything on the inside. I have checked all voltage to the ICM and on the white wire it is 3 AC volts (cranking), on the white/black it reads 12.4 DC volts and the pink/black it is 12.4 DC volts. On the black wire it is a good ground and has been tested. Why does this get so hot? All the voltage is within specs and the battery and alternator both send out the right amount of voltage. All the signal wires are good and I have good continuity. COuld the ICMs from Advanced be bad or am I having other problems? Should I try a genuine AC Delco ICM, because I feel that is a good step, what do you think? thanks ricky

I would try an AC man, I heard bad crap about all those electronics from autozone and advance and places like that, I did buy an ECT sensor from autozone and it was crap from day 1, so i got a AC and fixed everything. Shoebox also had a ICM mod to space it out a little bit from the head to cool it down, your head isnt getting to hot is it??
