K&N FIPK Intake w/ traction control

I have a 97 LT1 with traction control. I have been looking for a CAI. The K&N FIPK Intake states that it doesn't work on cars with traction control. Does that mean I am out of luck?

I am confused.

I hope I am not asking an idiot question, but how would it affect
traction control?

that is what I am trying to figure out. It specifically states that the K&N is for LT1's without traction control

Traction control unit is right next to intake manifold on top of the engine, it has nothing to do with the CAI. I don't know why K&N states that!

I totaly agree, as long as you get the one from slp that is for our car with traction control, you'll be ok.
I had it on my car till I went with ram air.

I have ASR on my car and have the SLP. I think what K&N is referring to is the taction control "unit" under our ABS unit right next to the CAI. This ASR "unit" is under the ABS and slightly toward the center of the engine bay but I still dont really see how it would be in the way. Although, the brake line running from the ABS to the ASR is somewhat in that area. If you look at the brake lines coming from the ABS unit there are 2. Those 2 run down a loom down to the K-member. The third goes the opposite direction over the ABS unit to the Traction Control unit instead of through the loom with the other 2 brake lines as you see a third hole for a third brake line in the loom. That 3rd brake line is all I can think of as being in the way.

I've got the ASR option on my 97 and have a K&N FIPK. No probs installing it and didn't have to mod anything. Only problem was getting the filter to stay on the end of the tube.

The ASR/ Traction Control Lines run through where the K&N Cone goes. The SLP is a Dual Cone intake setup and installs around the Traction Control Lines that are there. So it would be a lot easier to install a SLP CAI.

For the owner of the FIPK and ASR how did you get your setup to work?

Followed the instructions. There was no conflict between the various systems, and in fact is the only mod that actually fit like advertised.

I'll rephrase my question. How did you get the cone around your Traction Control Lines that are present there? By the way i'm getting the SLP here shortly

Here is the link to the FIPK installation instructions for a 5.7L 93-97 Camaro & Firebird.

I couldn't find a diagram of the ASR Lines. FWIK that is why the K&N states what it does. K&N wouldn't just state w/o traction control for no reason at all.

I didn't have any lines running in the way of my cone filter. I know 100% I have ASR because I paid extra for it (was on the window sticker), have the TCS switch and it sits on top of the valve cover, so I don't know what to say about it. The only hard part was getting the filter to actually stay on the tube long enough to clamp down. Fit better than any other mod I've done.

97 TA I believe you should have an on/off switch just above your stereo next to the defroster button that says TCS. I don't know if they were rerouted in the 97 model to a different location or not.

I have a 95 Z and I have a light in the dash that tells me my ASR/ Traction Control is off. I'm curious if you also have the same feature in yours.
