K&n cai

I was wondering something when I saw a picture of it on a 3rd gen car. The K&N CAI goes down into the fender. What if you pulled the long black tube that puts the filter down there off and just attached the filter after the MAF? Would it run worse, better, about the same or just not doable? Thanks in afvance for the info

if the filter would fit on the maf it would probably be do-able but you would lose power. the reason the filter is down in the fender area is to pick up cooler, more dense air than it would in the engine compartment; hence the term cold air intake.

not as hott as it is here. i would have done a cai still but the problem is the damn monsoons and all of the flooding around here! dont forget their is also a mod to cut into the air inlet under the stock air filter location.
