k, i need help fast!!! please!!!

ok guys well i just did all of the mods in my sig over the weekend, everyting was going smooth and what not, and i finally got the engine all put back together and then this happens......it has open headers by the way when i was trying to start it

so my thoughts are 1) lifters are deflated 2) opti is on wrong...3) i have no idea and im completey screwed. and i also forgot to mention when i put the cam on and new timing chain on the #1 piston was at top dead center and the timing gears were lined up perfectly, so someone please help me and give me somewhere to go.. thanks everyone

I dunno, I just did mild heads with the crane 227 and it started right up and I am still not tuned.
But, no lie, after hearing it trying to start.............I thought you had music playing. WOW, I feel for ya man, hopefully someone can lead you in the right direction.

Rockers might be too tight
Opti may be on wrong

It's *very* hard to tell from that video. Get a better quality video up.

It should at least start w/o a tune....

There's no need to "mark" anything. It only goes on one way correctly, no guessing. See below.

No, it can very easily be put in wrong. This is the first thing I would check, especially if little attention as to "how" it goes on was given.

What I was saying was there's no reason to mark it, as this is the correct way that it goes.. it's already "marked" from the factory.

When you put in the cam did you replace the timing set (gears and chain)? Later years (95 on) don't use the spline type drive. If you installed the HD set from GM, you aren't getting anything to drive the distributor. And yes, I have seen it happen before.
Try pulling the opti off and then put the splined drive back into the timing cover. If you can't feel it grab anything, pull the timing cover off and check the timing gear for the splines....my $.02

When aligning the splined shaft pay close attention to where the missing tooth is.. what I do is take just the stub shaft[not in the opti, or the TC] and feel gently where the 'notch' is in the TC..[where it finally slides in easty.. turn it one tooth at a time til you find that..]
Then remember at what 'o'clock' it went into the TC.. [or make a little sharpie mark]then take the shaft, and insert into opti, and do the same thing til it goes in EASY into the opti.. then turn the opti til it's as close as you can get it to where the 'o'clock' was to match the TC.. then with the shaft still in the opti gently install opti and keep trying, turning it SLIGHTLY [the opti or the shaft.. it's easier to tilt opti slightly more each time if it doesn't go in ] until it slides in EASY.. NEVER pull it on with the 3 bolts.. it should slide in, and go flush/tight to the TC without any gap when it's on right.. and yes it's fairly easy to get it on wrong, and it will go on wrong.. tho usually it won't slide on easy .. many make the error of drawing it on with the 3 mounting bolts.. if it slides on and sits flush/snug to the TC [without pushing or drawing w/bolts]it should be correct..
