just wondering

is there a way that i can get to the water pump drive without taking off the balancer? i have the engine out of the car but it is still hard to get if off. there is alot of rust! the person that i bought the engine from had an electric water pump, but i dont. thanks alot.

You are not going to get to the drive without removing the timing cover. The hub has to come off to get the cover off.

how do i get the hub off? i took off the center bolt. do i also need to take off the other 3?

Sounds like you have never pulled an SBC balancer before. The LT1 is similar. The LT1 has a separate pulley and hub. They can be pulled together or separately. The pulley bolts to the hub with 3 bolts. The hub is what fits over the crank snout. Use a balancer puller with a hardened rod inserted inside the center bolt hole to push against. The center post of a balancer puller will push against the inside of the hub, if you don't.
