Just Went to track! Is this a norm?
Hey guys,
I have a 94 camaro z28 that has 126,700miles on it and still looks new but i have morso cold air intake and hooker cat-back exhaust on it. The car has 2.73 highways in it and i ran a 14.4 at 97mph with a .687 rt. Is that bout normal for that? (AUTO)
I am wanting to get 3.73 with long tubes this winter, but i want a high stall what kind should i get and will i need to rebuild the trans?
thx rob

Ok, well I am glad thats sounds good, i dont know my 60' i will get back to you. What should i do along witht the 3.73 and lt, would a stall be good with a tranny rebuild, bc a 383 is in the future?

I have a manual, but the most popular items for A4 guys are 3.42's or 3.73's, and a stall.
The stall is only really useful if you plan to 1/4 mile the car all the time. Yes, the other option is headers, which also wakes the car up. I vote for rear gears and headers, since it makes daily driving so much better.

Dont feel bad, I ran a 14.9 my first time with my M6 car. My 60 foot was a 2.7, I need to practice launching. That was also bone stock, 94 degrees and 100% humidity and cold pep boys tires.
Re: Just Went to track! Is this a norm?
Sound about right, just get some tires and and you might get that car into 14.0/99 range.
Also if your looking at a stall don't go over a 3000 for a stock trans. Add a tranny cooler or you will kill the tranny.

So would my stock tranny with a 126 on it be good, i mean fresh fluid shift perfect, would that be ok to do a 3000 stall with a tranny cooler?
thx rob

Did you go to Muncie? I ran a 14.4 my first time at the track with just a cai. Im betting your 60 foot wasnt that great 2.3 ish because Muncie's track prep is kinda sucky {if thats where you went that is} Im also wanting some 3.73's next spring, the 2.73's are just plain horrible if ya ask me. Me and a bunch of other guys are gonna be down at Muncie the 13th, let me know if your gonna go and we can meet up down there or whatever.

Re: Just Went to track! Is this a norm?
I'd say that sounds pretty normal, it all depends on your 60' time.
chances are since it was your first time at the track, you were a little nervous (I know I was) and so it's easy to be too eager off the line and so you give it too much gas which of course results in lots of wheelspin and poor 60' times. The rule of thumb is, every tenth off your 60' will be about a tenth and a half off your ET.
Just practice a little bit.
