Just a reminder about how much *** the LT1 kicks.

Just driving home from the bar with my friend ( I had 4 beers over 5 Hrs for the people who hate on drunk drivers). I gave it some gas to go the torque kicks in, he asks what gear I was in. I say fourth and he is like wow that kicks ***. Then I was in second at like 40 and I floor it til 3rd. I had a smile on my face and he is saying how much *** that kicked.

I just thought I would let everyone know how much i think the LT1 kicks ***

My friend who was with me has a 66 mustang( 3 year restoration) that seems to run with me til about 50 or so, but it doesn't pull anything like the camaro.

No point here other that a reminder that the LT1 kicks ***

Thanks for listening

I just love the low end torque these engines make! It makes for a very fun daily driver, it's nice to just lightly touch the gas and still feel the engine pull very strongly.

What amazes me the most though, is that with 93,000 miles on my car it's running better than ever. I'm getting 20-21 MPG in mixed driving (which includes tons of full throttle and frequently nasty traffic too) and it runs extremely quick quarter mile times. I fully expect to get 200-250k out of this motor too, without any major loss in performance along the way.

I had a 96ta,then 97taws6 then traded it up for 99taws6.I still have the ls1 and its pretty modded..cam ,longtubes,ls6 intake, pulleys, induction, ported tb..no heads yet though.Have nitrous but not installed for it.
Anyway while the ls1 is a nice smooth engine still with my current mods its kinda a pooch around town unless you get and keep it over 3000 plus rpm.I do still have 3.42 in my six speed and of course 3.73 or 4.10 really wake up these ls1s around town.

But I did miss the bottom end snap of even my mildly modded
lt1s.I also missed the great and I think better sound of the lt1 and the better looking engine compartments.
So last week I purchased a nice 96 z28 vert and now have that old sweet lt1 again. One of the first mods to be done will be a nice borla and a set of better gears and stall but even without them the lt1 is pretty great.I just had a nice mustang fox body kill yesterday against some young guy like 16 to 18 that I think maybe thought the car was a six banger or something. Now to be fair he might have had a six or mabye even a 4 in his car but guessing 5.0 from the sound...no emblems, repainted car.
Anyway it just made me smile having an lt1 again under the hood..they reallly are great running motors and the car gets amazing mileage too.

I have had similar experience with my 90,000+ mile Impala SS LT1. Well, not the "extremely quick quarter mile times", but all the rest. I credit some of that to exclusive use of synthic oil. M1 in my case.
