Just installed SLP CAI

I installed it last night. Took me about 2 hrs. The fit was real good. Only problem is that the tube is touching one of the brake lines. Is that a problem? Also i got the filters pretty snug on there. I pulled on them and they didn't come off. But they were pretty hard to tighten down. Has anybody had problems with them falling off? Besides all that it looks great. I can feel a bit better throttle repsonse and it feels a little stronger up top. Well at least i think it does.

Mine also rests against one of the brake lines, shouldn't be a big problem. I think the filters should be OK but you may want to keep an eye of them. Take a look everytime you get gas or check the oil. I did have one fall off once and it was laying down in the plastic box thats underneath.

How am i supposed to check the filters everytime i get gas? The splashguard is covering them up. Was i supposed to leave part of the splashguard off?

Why would you need to check them that often? I would say check them every 3000 miles are so at the most... more like 5000 miles. They ought to stay pretty clean though...

No i meant check them to make sure they didn't fall off. It was hard for me to tighten them down. But when i pulled they didn't come off. I'm supposed to leave all of my spashguards on right?

oh i see, my bad.

Maybe you can not attatch the splash guard all the way leaving a a flexible piece that you can bend back to peek...

Yeah i guess i can just remove part of the splashguard to check everytime. I just don't want it to fall off while driving and be sucking up dirty unfiltered air into the engine.

Installed my SLP CAI last Spring ('02). They also touch the brake line. Horsed around quite a bit, been down to the track a half a dozen times and everything seems fine.
Enjoy!

I just took my driverside splashguard off....if you do..might wanna get a K&N filter cleaner kit. Watch out for water puddles tho. Remember it will dirty quicker.

Mine does not touch the brake line--but it is very close. The filters were a pain to get on for me as well. I wouldn't leave any bolts off the splashguard (to peak) and I definately would not pull the splashguard off altogether. At least with the splashguard on it can catch a filter if it falls off (not to mention all the benefits that come along with keeping your splashguard in place.) It only takes a minute or two if you want to remove a few bolts to check out your filters. You could even tap on the bottom of the splashguard to see if anything is rolling around in there, like a filter. Just my nickle's worth of free advice.

Thanks for the advice bastardcat. I'm gonna leave it on. Like you said it will catch the filter. Also i think if it falls off not as much dirty air will get in there.
