The difference with the programming is night and day. It pulls like a mother throught the power band. It is awesome, but at WOT, it doesn't shift until 6100-6200 rpms? Will this hurt anything on my engine. That is well into the redline.

Under normal driving, it doesn't shift until like 2500 rpms on the 1-2 at part throttle. It's cool, but is it necessary? Does it give me better response when I punch it while cruising at low speeds?

The stock valvetrain is what determined yoru old redline when you where stock. The bottom end is a factor too, but there are some people spinning the stock bottom to 6600-6800. You need to spin it that high to take full advantage of your hotcam. I shift at 6200-6300

I shift my hotcam at about 6200-6300 when racing. You have to remember that these factory tachs tend to read about 200rpm on the high side. So your really only at about 6000rpm max when shifting. The bottom end should be able to handle that without a problem.

I have to respectfully disagree. My factory tach is accurate. I thought *most* people other people who did complain about the factory tach said it was low not high?

The factory tach is out approx 200 rpm. Had a snap on scanner on it while driving.

ok, YOUR factory tach is off that much.

Out of curiousity, was yours off 200 on the high or the low side?

I'm was just saying i don't think all tachs are off. I have no problem believeing that your and some other peoples are off high or low.

I just replied to another thread about the factory tach. According to my shiftlight set at 3k 5.8k and 6k, my dyno runs always stopping at the rpm i was shooting for on the tach, and the revlimiter mine is accurate.

I shift my hotcammed car at 6200, with no problem. My factory tach reads 200 rpm higher than what it really is. When verified by the scanner, 6200 rpm looks almost like 6500 It's really cool by the way

Also, I picked up .3 and 3+mph in the 1/8 with just a PCMforless tune after the heads and cam.

From what I have read and seen, just about all the tachs on these cars read 200rpm on the high side. So when it shows 6200rpm your really at 6000rpm.
