Arrow just got myself a new f-body

Hey guys, i just picked up a 94 black z28 t-top m6 last week. after i got it home and registerd it and everything my friend was a little jealous and wanted to race so i gave him a little go, i too wanted to see what this car could do. so we raced. when i got up to the upper rpm's (4800-before the pre-redline) i noticed it started to sputter a little bit and it wouldnt let me go any further into the rpm range. i thought it was the fuel filter so i replaced it. The sputtering went down a little bit but it's still there and still won't let me go any higher than 4800 rpms. my brother suggested changing the plugs an wires to see if i just wasnt getting the spark i needed at that high of rpms. what do you guys think.

i was thinking of changing the plugs and wires anyways and just want to see what you guys feel are the best plugs and wires. my car is basically stock besides the exhaust but within the next few weeks im planning on getting long tube headers for it.

NGK TR55 Plugs should fix it Check the wires too. IDENTICAL symptoms. My old plugs were over gapped. Be sure to adjust the TR55's to .050 or .040 as they are gapped at about 0.060 out of the box.

For the longest I forgot my car could go past 5.5K RPMS ... When I changed out my OPTISPARK everything was fine. You might want to change that out.. depending on how many Miles yo uhave on your ride. My car had 69K when I did the swap.

just wondering something. why did you buy the car without going through the whole rpm band in every gear when u test drove it? if u did then you would have known abou thte problem before you bought it right? just wierd how you went and picked it up then decided to see what it could do then come to find out u have a mnor problem.

Re: just got myself a new f-body

i bought the car because everything else about the car is in immaculate condition. The paint is excellent, interior spotless and i could practically eat off the intake manifold. This is the only problem i found with the car inside and out. Plus the asking price was pretty much unbeatable.

Re: just got myself a new f-body

He was asking $6800 with 99,000 on it. I talked him down to $6000. The engine sputtering is the only problem i have with the car. I am extremely happy with my buy. I love it. (until winter at least). Right now im trying to stay away from spending all my money on it right now so i can get something half-way decent for the snow.

Re: just got myself a new f-body

no offense but that price is very beatable. Got mine for half that 88,000miles and it was flawless also

Re: just got myself a new f-body

yea i know it was beatable but around here the cheapest i could find was like $8000 and this had everything i was looking for in a car...Black, 6 spd., t-tops, clean, and driven by an older guy. In the area where i live, sports cars are pretty pricy so i was extremely happy to find this one for soo "cheap".

Nice pick up. Get us some pics!

If I'm not mistaken at clogged cat could cause you to not rev any higher.

Re: just got myself a new f-body

You paid good market price for the car, don't let yourself get beat up over the price.

Did the guy ever Wash the engine?
