Did you drive it a little earlier before you got off work ? If so, you're cat's may be gutted or gone.

When mine started smelling like gas, I checked the fuel rail, seemed to be leaking onto the intake. Notice any spuddering in low RPM, or hard starting?

Good call, I'm just wondering if he drove it right before he got off or not. I know he shouldn't smell it outside for to long. But it will linger for awile inside the car. I've gone out right after driving mine when it was running rich after the cat deleate and could still smell gasey exhaust. If he hadn't drove it for awile you're prolly dead on.

Re: Just got my car, problem?

my shift is from 3-11:30pm, i just moved my car at around 7:00pm about 200yards... so i doubt it has a gutted cat, it doesnt sound like it has a gutted cat either, i guess i will check the fuel rail.. and this is my second day driving stick, but i think i may have had some spuddering at low rpms, i didnt htink twice about it, but no hard starts occured, it fires every time. thank you and hopefully that is the problem.

Could also be the EVAP system. This system vents the gas vapors from the gas tank into the intake manifold. There are many components to the system, including a charcoal canister that is housed next to the driver-side back speaker, where the rear passengers sit. Take a look at these links:

If not that, then check your gas cap to see if it lock's into place. I had a bad cap which cause gas smeel all the time until I replace it with a new one.
