LT1 1994 Z28 Camaro

I need to know what to do first. This is the first fuel injected car I have ever owned and I want to learn how to make this car fast and tune it properly. I don't know much about the except it runs. It has a MSD ignition and Custom Headers and Flowmaster exaust. Can some one please help me out??

Not to be an ***, but with such a widely range of questions, the Search feature is your friend.

Hope you enjoy your Z, LT1s are badass. Remember: "Mind over torque."

Which MSD and headers do you have? Also, auto or 6-speed?

Ohhh no......Banester is a Arsss. Lova ya man. But do like Banester said...I wouldn't necessarily do a search but just go through all the posts and jot down some things you'd like to know about then search um.

Do you even know if it has a CAI (cold air induction kit)? That is the all time most bang for the buck first mod.

How much do you know about these cars??

Welcome to the world of the 4th Gen LT1 F body. This marvel of engineering comes with a 300 horse small block V8 with the distributor mounted beneath the water pump which is mated to either a very breakable slushbox or a fairly bullet proof 6 speed tranny. Connecting the tranny to the rearend is a steel driveshaft that is prone to becoming unbalanced. Taking the abuse from the first two items is a weak 7.5 inch 10 bolt rearend with either 2.73, 3.23, or 3.42 gears and featuring disc or drum brakes. Rolling stock consists of 16 inch salad shooters wearing 245/45/16 rubber. Suspension components consist of little more than reinforced sheet metal. The interior is made of plastic and makes all kinds of noise. The leather isn't really leather. The body will flex, the t-tops will leak. The sound system uses paper speakers. Insurance sucks. Is that all the info you wanted?

As many problems as these cars have, they are the most fun you can legally have.

Congrats on your new(used) Z28 and welcome to the family. When modding, money is always the limiting factor on what you can do vs. what you should do. I've been slowly modding my '94 Z28 A4 over the past 6+ years, not to mention fixing things that break. Asking questions with such a broad scope will not result in many helpful responses. You are going to have to do a lot of homework and then ask very specific questions, only after searching the topic you are looking for answers to. It's not that we don't want to help, because we do. There is just so much out there that has been re-hashed time and time again. Good luck in your new endeavor.

Welcome!

Most here prefer Dal or Jason for genuine GM stuff (thanks Shoebox)
Dal Slabaugh: 877-448-5451
email: lockitup@bright.net
VanDevere Buick/Pontiac/Olds Akron, OH

or

Jason Cromer: 877-726-8295 or 850-243-8826 (direct parts dept ph #)
email: gmparts@samtaylor.com
Sam Taylor Buick/Cadillac Ft. Walton Beach, FL

The board sponsers have a bunch of links to aftermarket stuff. All of which are stand up suppliers.
Sponsers

I like dealing with T Byrne Motorsports , goods specials, and excellent customer service.

Have fun,

Sean

The big hype right now is 1.7 rockers. But I'm going with 1.6 Pro mags with my setup. CAI's are basically all gonna give you the same amount of gain. Liigenfelter, SLP, Moroso, K&N, GMPP, there's a bunch to choose from. Peronsally I like the SLP or GMPP one.

Story behind the cam is what you want to accomplish with your car. Stock heads? Street/track?

I was looking to build tq and Hp in the 1500 - 6500 power range.
I have stock LT1 Alum heads That can be custom ported to match the cam but I need to know about the intake and fuel delivery to make a good selection on the cam.
