I don't remember when I changed spark plugs, think it was after that trip. The old plugs were OLD, I don't think the #8 plug had ever been changed. I also don't believe the OptiSpark has been touched (cap and rotor changed). I bought the car in late 2014 and broke my leg 2 months after getting it. A new fuel filter is what it had before the trip with 17 inch SS wheels and 275 wide tires all around. AC didn't work so didn't run it.

For everyday driving it averages about 21 MPG and on the highway gets roughly 25-28 depending on several variables. Once got 17, once got 18 so normally 19 or better. Almost 13,000 miles in about 3 years so don't drive it a lot.

I've used Fuelly.com from day one to track mileage.
Right on. I've modified pretty much everything on this car since '09 but am still getting about 24mpg with the combo in my sig.

AdsoYo, thanks for sharing this info. I have thought of building a 383 but always thought it would kill one of the nice things about my car. the fuel mileage! Your post gives me hope that would not be the case for me too.

The best mileage I ever got was cruising down Hwy 5 from Sacramento to Fresno. I was making phone calls and just pottering along at 55 with the cruise control but after a fill up I calculated 31 mpg. Around town in my regular driving I usually get 18 mpg which is not bad.

It is easy to forget that the stock LT-1 is tuned to run well even at sub 1500 rpm so it can get good gas mileage. I am sure the engineers were under pressure to help meet (or anticipate) the CAFE standards that the Feds were (and still are) pushing.
