Talking Just for fun, 10sec with 355

I know there is a hand full of people doing this on the board...but let's make this hard AND N/A

Car wight 3500+ with driver
LT1 style heads & intake
M6 must be able to drive on the highway for 60 miles/130km @ 90mpr or/130km under 3000rpm in 6th gear
A/C on the car
pumped gas

What kind of ides do you have

Russ Ethridge would be there if he'd quit exploding 12bolts & mangling torque arms.....

Nothing special really, one of our HR's, a set of full port LT1's, and an untouched intake manifold. He's got 3" exh, 4.11's, cheap 355 shortblock... Has ditched his a/c, but he didn't have to - he's just weird . Regardless of the car the ET is going to depend upon the chassis/suspension anyhow, and he's just recently moving from stock - he could clear that up a bit though. It lopes pretty good, but it's nothing crazy - brakes work & it gets over 20mpg still HWY. Even we were surprised when it pulled 6th from 35mph & around 1200rpm - thank Jeff Creech for that part-throttle wizardry

If you can drive & want to do it with stock castings & a HR, we can certainly take care of the power requirements, though it's certainly not the easiest thing ever. With a solid... it'd be a little easier & with more RPM, it'd be cake. Of course you still have to manage to get the thing to go down the track if you want something other than just a high terminal speed.

I see it being pretty hard in a 3500 plus pound car with 355 inches on pump gas. Only one I know of is 95 Bird I think is his name. He has a solid roller 355 and a six speed, no a/c and in a lighter car. He JUST bumps in the 10's and I have seen him drive it at cruisin the coast.

I am attempting to runs 10's full weight on a drag radial. Complete with a/c, power steering etc. About 3700 lbs with me in it I will guess. I think it will take 470 RWHP to run in the 10's at 3500 LBS. I will have a Combination motorsports 4L60E behind a solid roller 383. Be hard to do in a 3500 lb 355 inch LT1 on pump gas. Have to 60 ft the **** out of it, hard to do in a stick car. Parts tend to exit the vehicle at that weight.

Amen brother- I've seen my share of pieces parts. It only takes about 4 passes to take a perfectly quiet 12 bolt and turn it into a whining b!tch in a 3700# car.

Well i can see LT1 heads doing this with the right matched cam SR, but HR ...Phil, care to talk more on this HR cam you have in mind...

What kind of weight are we talkiing here...3300lbs

Where would you pull the weight out of ie: replace the k frame, upper and lower A arms , bumpers, seats ????? maybe but would you not put this back all in with the cage

95 Bird can drive his car every day every where

Any more insight here

No 95 bird's car is not a daily driver, see here, has a link to his site

This guy has worked pretty hard to break the 10's with this car.

IMHO it would be impossible on that weight w/ a hydrolic roller.

I'd be willing to throw a couple hundred lb's in the trunk and see what I can run, if it doesnt stand up on the bumper with all the weight in the back But I dont have a/c, but I do get 22 mph...

Tim Herrington has been there, done that - with a real tranny - 6speed .

He's running stock LT1 castings, 355, and a solid roller (stock computer). Nothing fancy...just big tires, lots of gear, and big cajones .
