Just fired up the new setup..

I have a concern though. Im seeing oil up top...but not much. I have 1/2 too 3/4 gauge of oil pressure inside... but i was giving it some revs and the oil coming thru the pushrods seemed to be less than I remember it being.

I set my rockers at zero lash + 1/2 turn (stock 1.5 rockers) however I think I may have been past zero lash before the 1/2 turn. Any chance thats why im not seeing much oil? I was going to try and set the lash again tonight.. Thanks!!

By the way...306 cam sounds incredible!!!!!

I dont see much if any at idle. Rev it up a ilttle and it'll spray oil out though. I wouldnt worry too much.

If you have only 6psi of oil pressure, you are in a BIG trouble!!!!

Yea, i think it is closer to 20-25, most people say 20 at idle and 10 more psi for ever 1000 rpm's is fine for a smallblock. I've adjusted my rocker arms on a sb chev before the "hot" method and not much oil at all comes out of the pushrods, just don't rev it when the valve covers are off, ask me how i know

Ive heard 6-8psi several times...

Anyways...I reved it up and it was pushing oil pretty good. Been cruising on it all day and hold oil pressure to the first mark @ idle. Freakin rocks!!!

Some cars have 6-8 BAR(!!!) of oil pressure, that's 120 psi!!!
If you look at your stock oil pressure gauge, 6 psi would be right in the red zone!!

Re: Just fired up the new setup..

Not very impressed so far

I have some minor issues right now.. and the car pulls ...however after playing around a lil tonight with some friends my car is not running up to par. will the 306 cam pickup a TON of power after tune? cuz I beat a bolt on (mid 13 seconds IF its lucky) mustang tonight by 1 car length. What a terrible day its been. Started up the car to find coolant on the passenger floorboard. replaced heater core, tried to fix exhaust (small leak..will be getting welded soon) Oil pressure sits at the first mark 100% of the time (even if WOT)...argh. Now the starter is spinning without engaging (bad bindex?)... this blows. (sorry needed to vent_

Re: Just fired up the new setup..

Needs a tune, better headers, and 3.73 or higher gears. But mostly a tune.

Re: Just fired up the new setup..

Thats cuz the monkey is just quoting a book, almost all repair manuals have our oil pressure wrong, I know for a fact the Hayens and Chiltons says 6-8 PSI, if that was the case, throw the engine out the window
