just finished my lt4 springs and rr install...

spent a few hours last nite and the better part of today doing my lt4 valve springs and roller tip 1.6 rockers, man what a pain some of the springs were, other than that the job went fairly easy as it was my first time under the valve cover of an lt1, i wouldnt do it again...well not anytime soon, need time for my cut hands to heal my question is now that i have the 1.6 rockers where will i feel the most power gain, low end, mid range or top end, i took it out for a while tonite and feels alot more powerful in mid range, is that where most people feel the difference, thanks...

forgot to mention while it was all apart i did the tb bypass too, figured it would be good for a few more ponies, so with the tb bypass and 1.6 rockers about how much rwhp? i gonna guess about 15 or so...

I don't think you will feel it any where. Some guys might say they picked up something, but I got a big fat no gain at all when I put mine on. All my mods are track tested.

I would think there should be a small gain across the board. Seeing how these engines have so much low end torque im guessing you probably wont notice it much down low, but may feel a small difference up top. I believe gains of about 15rwhp are about right.

Well I put the 1.6 rockers on my motor. The only other mods I had at the time where 4.10 gears and a 52TB. I had a best time of 13.20's in the Qtr. I did notice top end felt stronger. Makes sense since your increasing the cam lift some with the bigger rockers.

I would think that it felt stronger on the top due to the fact that the old springs were week. I was having vale float before I put mine in and it took care of that.

i believe you are suppose to feel it more in the topend, but since you don't have headers it probably isn't noticable since the topend is where a headerless car dies off.

Yeah, most noticeable in the midrange. Now you need headers!

Your risking spring bind in the upper RPM range with the stock springs and 1.6 rocker due to the increased lift.

That motor is long gone. I was only seeing how fast I could make the old motor go before she blew up. Best time was 11.80's on 150 shot of nitrous 1.6 0 to 60's and 117MPH. I then put a 8 lb Vortech on it and it lasted about 6 months. Then she blew a head gasket. Never had a chance to get a time then. Was fun while she lasted. Never missed a beat or had any valvetrain problems. But like I said I wasnt to concerned on that motor. I just wanted to see how fast a tired LT1 could be with just bolt ons. Nothing to serious in internals. The only Internal thing was the rockers. She lasted 175,000 miles. Not bad since I had installed the rockers with 72,000 miles on it and never put springs or any internal part Including gaskets on it.
