Just finished intake manifold repair...

and drove it around the block a few times to make sure it was running OK. I saw a small drip of oil on the ground after it sat for a few minutes. Since I haven't cleaned up the oily mess yet, is it possible that the oil drip was leftover from the under carriage (hopefully) or is it probably another leak? I am going to clean everything this weekend and it may be fine but I thought I would get a few opinions.

I hope you didnt drive it around right after you put everything together!!! Your supposed to let it sit for 24hrs before even starting it up.
If you have oil still leaking then you might as well do it again since you drove it right away the RTV didnt have time to set up.

If you didnt these things above and you let it sit for 24hrs theres a possible chance of some other seal like my water pump drive gear seal leaking after I fix the IM leak.

But clean up the under side of the engine to be sure, thats what I did and still noticed oil leaking.

I did wait 24 hours. I put the intake back on one day and then hooked everything up the next and drove it. There is just a lot of oil still under the car and I am going to have to clean everything real good to find where my next leak is...

FYI. This is totally untrue... No need to wait. Big misconception on this board for some reason.

Hopefully it is just some residual oil somewhere

I waited 24 hrs, because I figure waiting 24 hrs (even if its BS) is worth not doing it over again. My intake hasn't leaked a single drop. But that same week I did a clutch swap and realized my rear main was leaking as well. Chances are its your rear main if you are still leaking. Hopefully you laid down a big fat bead of RTV on the front and back of the block, and got pretty generous on the gaskets too.

If it has been leaking oil for a while there could be a lot of residual on back of engine and front of trans, definately clean it good and hopefully that was your only leak.

intake removal

Is it a fairly huge PITA to remove the manifold to fix this leak.

I've put headers, 12 bolt and street twin in mine myself so I have some confidence in doing it but looks pretty damn tricky with firewall proximity.

What do you think doable?

IMO, the intake is a piece of cake to remove. I have pulled the intake off many many times, rather easy if I say so myself. Just gotta pay attention to what you take off and where.
