Arrow Just finished installing 233/239....

Actually, I finished it yesterday but I couldn't start the car because of a bad chip.

I installed a 233/239 cam in my '93 A4 (94 engine) and hooker LTs. Only thing not installed is the y-pipe so it's open headers right now.

Put the stock chip in temporarily today and cranked it.... fired up on the first turn but MAN.... all I can say is:

This thing is loud as hell and the cam has a devilish lope. Of course, stock tune, but still, even at 2000 RPM it lopes crazy.

I don't even wanna know how will I drive this thing to the exhaust shop....

Other than that, looks like everything went fine. Couldn't hear any ticking or any abnormal stuff, but I guess the loud exhaust didn't help much either.

Passenger side header started smoking a little bit, so I'll fire it up again tonight to see if it's just some oil or it's getting really hot...

Stay tuned for sound clips.

Probably just a gasket burning a little bit. Get that thing to a dyno or track and show us some #'s . Stock heads?

Well, the gaskets are aluminum, so I don't see how they could burn, but anyway, I'll recheck everything tonight just to make sure.

The heads are stock for now.

Not sure if I'll get a chance to dyno tune it this year, but it all depends on the weather. I'll take it to the track this weekend if everything goes as planned.

When I got done with my LTs, my passenger side header was burning on the plastic stuff that wraps around the AIR crossunder tube.

I'm not sure exactly what are you reffering to, but either way, I doubt I have any of that stuff still on the car.

Its the part of the AIR system on the car. It's a metal pipe that crosses to the passenger side for the AIR hookup. I still need to get rid of it but can't find a good way to get it out. There's just a plastic piece that wrapped around it and was burning from my LTs.

May just be oil or something burning from your hands touching it.

Yea, all my AIR stuff is long gone. Including the bracket... so it's not it.

It must be some oil grease, especially since I changed springs/rockers/pushrods after that side was installed. I'll let it run more tonight.

Yah, if you used carb cleaner at all under the valvecovers this is probably it. I started my car up after rr's and springs install and i shot flames for a min or so of pure carb cleaner.

just by touching the headers gets them smoking

Are you using the 93 computer or a 94+?

Congrats on the cam install, I'll let you know how the GM847 is doing
