just a couple questions!
hey everyone. i have my 94 Z in the garage currently getting surgery on the head gasket and stock heads because of a massive overheating problem. Anyway i just have a couple questions i would like answered. What would be the best performance upgrade i could stick on this beauty after the rebuild of this H.G.? nothing thats going to drop deep in my pockets and drain me, but something very helpful that will increase power and performance by one hell of a lot. sorry for all the typing but i have just one more. the car is stock, (except for the fosgate soundsystem) and i wanna stick an accel. gear in the rear end. i see everyone with 3.73's but is there something better that can go on this car for a decent price? all answers will be appreciated thanks a lot!

the problem is i talked with a guy at a stop light who had a lt4 kit in the Z28 he was in. he said it ran a high 13 which i though was pretty ****ty for all the effort and money for that upgrade so i dont think it's worth it.

There are better cams, it's been awhile but I'm not sure what they are, I remember hearing about cc305 and cc306, but I don't remember the specs. Others will be able to help you more on that. First mods should be CAI and full exhaust (headers, y-pipe, cat-back). If you're car can't breathe, you won't get the most out of other mods.

While the heads are off, have a good set of springs installed...saves you the trouble later.
Your stock rocker arm studs are 3/8"
Just going to 1.6 roller rocker will give you a nice little gain. If you go with something like Crane Gold self aligning rockers you won't even need guide plates.
With stock exhaust manifolds, SLP big bore Y-pipe, SLP CAI, Corsa catback, 1.6 roller rockers, LT4 KM, electric water pump, 160 *F Thermostat and hypertech sort-o-tune, my car did 301 horspower at the rear wheels. You can get a pretty good bump without spending big gobs of money. Anyway, like that, the car ran a 13.1 in the quarter....
If a guy had the LT4 kit on his Z28 and ran high 13's, I'd suspect driver malfunction over horsepower limitations...

Forget the LT4 hotcam, there is way better cams out there, cc503 as an example.
Mods you need first
Headers/full exhaust
Cold air intake
Rear gears
If you do them 3 and only them 3, get a tune. If you do other mods, wait, then do a tune.

alright thanks alot bw and the rest of you. just one more question. i wanna do a different gear ratio in my rear. so for the best performance, what gear ratio should i get. i was thinking 3.73's but someone said that would give you a little to none increase in acceleration...

anyone know if this CAI is any good, or should i go to k&n and check their stock??

I believe people usually go 3.73 for an auto and 4.10 or 4.11 for a 6 speed because of the two overdrives it won't hurt you as much as it would in the auto
