Arrow Just bought an LT1... let me know what you think (pics inside)

This is the follow-up to this thread.

I went ahead and bought the engine and after tons of problems with the delivery, it finally is home.

Here are some pictures:

1 - Nice front view pic

2 - Driver side view
3 - Rear view
4 - Passenger side view
5 - Top view
6 - Another nice front view
7 - Bottom view

Let me know what you think! This is going in the 93 I just got in a couple of days...

Just take a look at the other thread... I don't know myself. I've heard TOTALLY different stories about it from different sources. The guy I bought it from claims 26K. (I think it's BS)
Another shop said 59K miles. I think it could be anywhere from 40K to 60K but the real mileage is unknown to me. I can definetely tell it hasn't been rebuilt and the engine looks really clean overall...

Well, not knowing what you paid for it, it looks like a good motor.

I think the key will be the 2 month warranty. Find out all you can during that time. Definately get the compression tested. That will tell you a lot right there. And make sure of the terms of the warranty before you buy it. I would specifically ask the guy straight to his face "what are you gonna do for me if I find out that 3 cylinders have bent valves from being over-revved?". See what his reaction is. I hope you got a good one though!

Judging by the way the tension pulley looks, I'd say your right on in the 40-60k range if not less. The other pulleys still have the paint on them as well so that'd be a good sign. Check out your bore, if you can, compared to what it was with 0 miles.

That coil looks awfully rusty.

Looks good. Those would be some good pics to keep around to help when people cant find things or need a good description.(Something along the lines of what shoebox has)

Either way looks really good, mind me asking how much you got it for?

looks good..

why did you get a 93? i mean when you know so much about SD vs MAF.. why did you go with SD? or was it all based on the price of the car?

I paid $1200 for it. It came with the MAF, intake elbow, airbox, PCM, sections of the harness and some other stuff.
It's a 94 engine. I think it has been sitting for a couple years but the guy said he constantly pulled the plugs, oiled and turned it.

It will cost me more though. I borrowed someone's pick up truck and the engine wasn't strapped or anything, it wasn't a far drive so I figured I'd be able to bring it home without problems. A slightly harder brake and it dented the bed and the cab a bit. Sucks, but oh well, hopefully this thing will justify what I've gone through to get it home. (taking it off the truck with a couple of guys and my girlfriend is a whole different story.... )

I got the 93 because of the price and because it had all options possible. I still don't know if I'll keep the 93 setup and do some experimenting with it, or switch to the 94 harness/PCM...
