Jet-Hot Mac headers

A couple of weeks ago I ordered Mac headers for my '93 Formula through Jet-hot and they arrive today. They look great with the ceramic coating! They look like they are for 94-95 LT1's with the extra tube on the pass rear header tube but that should be cured easily with a block off plate. I will be installing them this weekend and i'm lucky enough to have access to a lift. I have about 7 hours to complete the job, any insights to help me avoid any surprises?

Here you go.

I'm interested to see what you thought of the install. I'm doing mine this spring. They are also the Jet-Hot '94-'95 MAC's

Also, when you do the sound clips, please stand back far enough from the car so that the sound doesn't overload the microphone. Seems like every exhaust clip I hear, the camera was way too close to the car. Doesn't give a true idea of the sound. Just a tip.

Oh yeah. My big suggestion would be to get mechanics gloves and soak down all the bolts with PB Baster or Liquid Wrench or something the night before and the day of.

Have fun.

Cool thanks for the links Dan, it doesn't look to bad of a project. I'll share my experience (or nightmare) after they are installed.

1.8ttolt1--I forgot to check for a GP so I didn't go thru a GP. I just called Jet Hot up and ordered them in late Jan. I couldn't tell you how I got them so fast.

mac's

When I put mine on the biggest pain by far was getting the old set out. What kind of gaskets are you using? I actually paid $ 60 for aluminum and ended up tossing them and using the stockers which haven't leaked yet 1 yr later.

Have fun!

I'll probably use the gaskets that came with the kit, I've heard enough good things about them to feel comfortable using the stockers. We'll see how they work!

My pointer would be to match them up to the gaskets and the stock manifolds before you put them in to make sure the bolt holes are in the right place. Also chase all the holes so the bolts will be easier to get started.

good point you can get away with widening a bolt hole a bit for alignment. Rather than having a port not line up

Yes good points. That would save a headache or two. thanks! I also have the rust penetrating oil and gloves ready to go. I'm just patiently waiting for the slooow week to get over with!

Get someone to help you and give yourself more time to do the job. Most of your time is going to be spent getting the old stuff off, as has been mentioned before. How easily that stuff comes off is going to be the determining factor in how much time your project takes.

How do you like the sound of your setup? It is exactly what I have waiting to be installed. Jet-Hot MAC's, single high flow cat, and the Hooker Cat-back. (except you don't have a cat installed)

Also, how is the catback holding up? Any rust?

what cat are you guys sticking on your cars? I too will be installing MAC headers (not jet hot though) 94-95 style to a loudmouth exhaust. But I dont know what cat to use. I'm not sure that if I buy a new cat if it will be the same size as the old one and bolt on or if I'll have to get a pipe made.
