Unhappy Jet Hot LT's rusting .........

.............. these where installed last November & the car wasn't driven thru the winter. However I did drive it in the rain 2 times since the install. When I did a oil change this last sunday, noticed a good amount of rust on the under side of the collectors. Anyone one else having this problem ?

Yep, mine have been rusting for quite awhile now . Its getting pretty bad. All the coating is completely gone from the underside of the headers but from about half way up they look new. Many others have the same problem. As far as I'm concerned Jet Hot coating doesn't do crap to protect against rusting. I've thought about getting them recoated but whats the point of going through a header install if they are just going to rust again which I'm positive they would.

I had thought the coating was to protect against rust & heat transfer ?

the lower portion of the car is subject to sandblast like atmosphere while driving on the hwy.. its pretty harsh on any coating for that matter.. por 15 is one of the only coating's said to be able to weather the beating's given under the car!!.. Take them off and jet hot will recoat them for ya.. be good as new..

Por15 doesnt hold up as well as Powdercoating. I have all the componenets powdercoated under my car including the subframe and the car is driven everywhere. Everytime I change the oil, I wipe down the parts and everything still looks new.

I don't think power coating or Por15 will hold up due to the heat ?

The reason they probably rust is because the coating gets nicked up from the install or from just rocks in everyday driving. From there, where the coating is gone it will start to rust and spread.
