Jet Hot LTs are done!! Pics if you want em!
#2 primary his your Air hook up that extends upward..
Had my SLP shorties touching it to... didnt do anything abnormal with the header touching it.
Im scared that my borla is gonna be loud because exhaust exits out the passenger side without going through the muffler. Im gonna adjust it and make the opening smaller.
My friend Jason put the LT's on his 95z28 with hooker exhaust. His car actually got quieter from his previous manifolds..

I am doing the hotcam kit/shorty header thing now. I was going with SLP shorties but now I must reconsider after looking at your jet hot lt pics. The clearance looks better than the Hookers. That is the only reason I was doing shorties btw.
I know that the JetHot's are somewhat copies of the Hooker design but do they provide improved ground clearance over the Hookers??
Thanks
Jeff D.

I really suggest against going with cats however unless it is necessary for you to b/c of emissions. The heat from them helped lead to an early (read under 6 months) demise to my pretty ceramic coating on the headers.

I never really considered the idea that they would generate that much heat. I was looking for a way to tuck them under there for a true dual setup using an X-pipe. We currently do not have emissions testing in this part of VA yet... I'm mainly wanting to do that for a visual inspection when I have the car inspected once a year and I have had my exhaust glanced over by a State Police officer before also. I'm basically just wanting something to cover my *** if someone happens to look, really doesn't matter to me if they're functional or not
Hrmmmmm I may just get my hands on a couple of the smaller cats off the dual cat F-bodies and run a pipe through the center of them... it shouldn't generate near as much heat would it? I should be able to tuck them up there maybe 8-12"s behind the collectors. Orrrrr I can just use flanges between the X-pipe and the collectors... have two seperate links made up for it. One with the cats in place and another with them by-passed, then once I get my inspection sticker w/ the cats on I can un-bolt them and bolt up the straight pipe. Extra work but it may be worth it
Sorry for taking away from the original post though! I'm just playing with some idea's for a unique custom exhaust thats all
Well, to answer most of your questions: I will find out from the exhaust shop all the specific info. I'll also get more pics of the tranny supports and stuff.
The y-pipe tubes are not 3 inches, more like 2.5 or 2.75. They hook into the cat which is 3", and exit into a 3" flange.
With the tranny support, when they first finished the y-pipe, it would knock against the removable support, and be really irritating, so they just trimmed it down, like I will shop in a pic tomorrow. It still does a tiny bit, and I will have them trim it down more. They also did flatten the y-pipe a bit on the drivers side to get them around some of the underbody ridges and stuff.
I'm running the stock cat back exhaust after the y-pipe. That will change sometime, hopefully soon. The headers didn't really make much of a difference in sound. When actually driving, it did change the sound, it sounds more like rushing air. More engine noise change than tailpipe sound. However, I think it sounds pretty cool like it is. I just want a deeper sound, which I will get when I get the rest of the exhaust system made. I'm gonna go to the same shop and have them build me a system. It will probably be cheaper, and just as good as any other cat back.
I'll get those pics tomorrow, and the other info, an let you guys know.
Thanks,
Jeremy

However, running straight headers was really cool, when I drove to the exhaust shop.
Soundwise, I am slightly disapointed, because I wass hoping for a deeper sound. However, I like the new sound, and the performance is completely awesome. Noticable difference in acceleration, and throttle response.
Overall rating= 7 thumbs up, out of 5.

OK, here are some more pics, including what they did for the drivers side of the y-pipe.

Yes, I did need 2 extensions. I only bought one 24", so I just cut and spliced that to make 2, and they fit perfectly. 2 12" ones are what you need.
I'd like to have a 45 degree angle too, but that would put the cat way too far back. Thats why I had them put a flange connection after the cat, so I can get an "offroad"
pipe later on.

I hope you have the #5 wire protected pretty good if you have it running against the block, with the angle of the taylor wire heads it lays right against the header and burns through after a bit...
