"Jerking" on acceleration...
"Jerking" on acceleration...
Ok, my car seems to idle fine, ecxept for sometimes it revs itself every now and them, btu quite often on acceleration it seems to jerk a little bit, almost like a miss. It just about felt like it wanted to die on me when I floored it yesterday. I had a diagnostic ran on it last week and it wasn't much of a help. Something about a manifold sensor or something. Could the MAP sensor cause these problems? Has anyone had problems with it? I think it's the rectangular shaped sensor on top of the intake right behind the throttle body. I will probably be doing my plugs and wires this week sometime as well. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks guys!
I had that problem, and the gm guys told me the maf sensor is showing reduced ariflow, which means that it is telling the computer to shoot less gasoline from the injectors.
I put in a granatelli maf sensor, and the prob was still there. I changed the spark plugs, and the prob was gone, i had less than 40,000 miles on them. Airflow is reduced during a miss, causing the maf sensor to detected reduced airflow (duh!). The stock maf sensors on these cars are very reliable.
I had taken it to several different dealerships and mechanics, and nobody caught the problem because the platinum spark plugs are rated for something like 80k or 100k miles (i cant recall).

I would try the coil first before you spend money elsewhere. Its only like $30. IMO, I doubt its the maf or map. Just dont want you to waste your money. Oh, and there really is no way to make spark plug change easier. Although, it was a little better doing it from underneath, instead of trying it from the top. Good luck.
P.S you might also change your fuel filter while your at it because that can cause hesitation also.

Yeah I have the filter I Just need to put it on. I'm not driving the car right now so it's cool. Would a bad coil show up on a diagnostic? And wouldn't a bad one make it idle bad too, not just on acceleration? I hope thats all it is.
