Question Iridium spark plugs worth it?

Was wondering if these stand true to what they claim of lasting longer than platinums and firing more power? Or should i go with the TR55's or the stock AC platinum's?

Absolutely not worth it. $6.00 a plug is ridiculous.

TR55s will work just as fine.

i second the above...i can change plugs 3 times for the price of your set of one iridium...

so they woould have to last 3 times longer to make sense..

and more power...maybe .1 hp...

I've always used the AC Delco Rapid Fires. Have had no problems.

I've heard Bosch Platinums don't work well in our cars - anyone know for sure?

Also, how do the Autolite's work better and why would the tops screw on/off ?

Well, I don't consider $6 a plug for paltinum/iridium ridiculous considering how long they last. I'd much rather spend $6 a plug for ones that will last 50,000 miles instead of $2 a plug for ones you replace every 10,000 miles.

Question

Well, how about the Splitfires then? Sorry, I'm just going to be changing plugs in the near future, and only want to do it once.

i would stay factory and use AC DELCO PLATINUMS. i've never had a problem with them. Splitfires suck, but Bosch's are ok.

So what is the hype with iridium? Does it last even longer than platinum? NGK says the electrode is 25% smaller than the platinum which allows better spark - anyone know if this is true?

I have Denso Iridium plugs. I got them off Ebay quite a while back but they were still like $6 each, but that was cheap for them then. They are a really good plug. I just rebuilt the engine and put them back in, they looked great. They ends the wires clip on to do unscrew. I got them because of the milage claims and my ungoddly pain in the butt headers..Plus they said it was what all the import racers were running so I knew I needed some to keep up.

They are supposedly a pretty hot burning plug so it dependes on your engine set up if you want something cooler burning..
