Like it states...it isn't labeled on the gasket itself which side goes towards the block and which side faces the head. One side is sorta smooth, the other side is more texured.

 

Sorry i can't answer your question but i would also like to know because i am going to use these same gaskets later this summer.

 

I had the same question when I installed them on my car. I never did get a clear answer so I just made an educated guess and never had any issues. I think the gaskets had some writing on one side and I put that side up.

From my limited experience, when in doubt install gaskets with embossed/ printed numbers in the "up" position.

BTW.... I never did get a good answer either and did the educated guess and put them on with the embossed number up.
