Intresting Result of using metal collector gaskets.

One of the cars has been running a little funky and giving off some strange O2 readings with Freescan. Decieded to look inot it this weekend. Pulled out the O2's and both had evidence of metal stuck to them. I got very concerned that i was running ultra lean and burning up my heads. Then i got to thinking where else could it have come from? The answer was simple after a little head scratching i pulled out the collector gaskets and there was lots of evicence they were melted away in some parts that hang into the exhaust stream. Seems the gaskets were a bit too big and once compressed the thin pressed areas were burnt off by the exhaust. This exhaust system the o2's are after the collector. So lesson learned here. Put the o2's before a joint or not use the metal collector gaskets. I am opting of the second. Replaced the o2's and used the high end felpro fibre gaskets.

I too tried them (dead soft aluminum), blew them both out inside of a month! Waste of $20. I now use the Mr Gasket Ultra Seals. Cheap and they work great.
