intake manifold ??'ss
intake manifold ??'ss
I am having a real problem removing my intake manifold....I took off fuel rail and disconnected all screws and hoses and everything (just so you don't ask)......I can't break the seal between the gaskets and rtv, I tried hammering in a pry bar and prying in from the corner, and tried seprating it but It wont separate for ****.....I already cracked off the very corner of the manifold onthe front (very edge so half of the screw hole is missing), but I doubt this will be a problem.
Please give me some ideas or methods on how to don this... before I get even more frustrated and break anything further and more serius.
thanksalot

well I got it off today and thanks alot for the help...I didn't realize thae studs unscrewed....I want to get the manifold powder coated red like the lt4 now, wut should I do to prepare this I took everythin off it and try to get off as much dirt off as I could....onr thing I couldn't get off was a rubber gromet that goes inside it on the drivers side.....When I get it powder coated by someone, do I have to clean everything perfect and mask everything off or would the shop doing it usually do this stuff for me......if not wut would I mask off and how good do I have to clean it
about how much does it usually cost to get the intake manifold powdercoated??
thanks

FWIW I was quoted $55 to do my intake + brackets (same color) as long as they were blasted and pretty much ready to go. They'll probably want to mask it themselves, but again, ask, each has a preference.
thanks for the info and help....wut is glass bead???and also wut about the rubber gromet I mentioned in the earlier post (its on the drivers sid of intake manifold and agoes into it), I tried to take it out but it wasn't budging so I figured I would ask before I break anything else
Also should I polish the fins before or after powder coating it
thankyou

It wan't really hard at all except for gettin them bolts out in the back of the manifold, and for me not knowing that the studs unscrewed after taking off the nuts on top....also the onlyt special tool needed if you want to take off your fuel rail is the tool for the quik connect fuel lines

I had the oil leak at the intake (like everyone else) and had to fix it. When I took off my intake I did NOT take the fuel rail off.................just layed it to the side. I just rebuilt my engine and still did not take off my fuel rail, once again romoved from intake and layed it to the side.
