intake manifold ??'ss

I am having a real problem removing my intake manifold....I took off fuel rail and disconnected all screws and hoses and everything (just so you don't ask)......I can't break the seal between the gaskets and rtv, I tried hammering in a pry bar and prying in from the corner, and tried seprating it but It wont separate for ****.....I already cracked off the very corner of the manifold onthe front (very edge so half of the screw hole is missing), but I doubt this will be a problem.

Please give me some ideas or methods on how to don this... before I get even more frustrated and break anything further and more serius.

thanksalot

There are a couple that are studs. They have nuts to hold other stuff in place. You probably removed the nut,now you need to remove the stud.Look at it closely.

I know, I took off the nuts, but you can't take out the studs, they are stuck inside the block

The studs have a nut on it to remove it.It is hard to see.I guarantee that is holding it.You will break the intake if you dont remove them.

Yeah, like the alt bracket and something else. Get a deep socket and turn the nut that's basically in the middle ofthe stud.

I hope you didn't ruin your intake trying to hammer a prybar into it.

How hard was it to remove your intake manifold? I have to remove mine because It looks like I have an oil leak coming somewhere from there. Also how long did it take?

Thanks.

It's going to vary shop to shop, region to region. Best bet look up the yellow pages and start calling around. Preferrably glass bead it first, and get it all cleaned up...and wrap it up in a towel or something to keep grease or hands from getting on it. They're going to prep it themselves anyways...Or they might say just bring it in and they'll prep it themselves (glass bead etc.).

FWIW I was quoted $55 to do my intake + brackets (same color) as long as they were blasted and pretty much ready to go. They'll probably want to mask it themselves, but again, ask, each has a preference.

thanks for the info and help....wut is glass bead???and also wut about the rubber gromet I mentioned in the earlier post (its on the drivers sid of intake manifold and agoes into it), I tried to take it out but it wasn't budging so I figured I would ask before I break anything else
Also should I polish the fins before or after powder coating it

thankyou

It wan't really hard at all except for gettin them bolts out in the back of the manifold, and for me not knowing that the studs unscrewed after taking off the nuts on top....also the onlyt special tool needed if you want to take off your fuel rail is the tool for the quik connect fuel lines

I had the oil leak at the intake (like everyone else) and had to fix it. When I took off my intake I did NOT take the fuel rail off.................just layed it to the side. I just rebuilt my engine and still did not take off my fuel rail, once again romoved from intake and layed it to the side.
