intake manifold leak...

Im thinking of tackling this job. im thinking maybe the leak is reducing the octane in my fuel, maybe causing a little knock retard. Wondering how long it takes roughly. What are the going prices for set of gaskets. Also what is the price for some valve cover gaskets?

thanks

Definately get a mirror and flashlight and check the manifold before you start replacing the gaskets. My felpro intake set was $20 bucks, I believe the valve cover gaskets are about the same price. Luckily my problem wasn't the intake, it was the fuel pressure regulator.

The stock valve cover gaskets are nice pieces; I doubt you need to replace them. Most guys on the board have had the best luck using stock GM intake gaskets. It's not the gaskets that leak, the gaskets only run down the sides on the intake, it's that fact that only RTV seals the front and the back of the intake!

If you're going to replace them, I'd go with the coper RTV. That stuff never leaks.
