intake manifold bolts...

A guy at school here knew my car, had a friend who needed his 95 TA put back together. I guess the car has been apart for a few years and hes clueless as to how to get it all back together.

Anyways, i went out there last night and the entire car is in boxes, all mixed up bolts, parts etc. What a mess.

Anyways, i found the intake studs, but couldnt find the bolts. Only thing i found were some longer bolts that had 1/2 thick washers on them. Anyone ever seen anything like this? They almost looked like the hub bolt washer, but were fit the intake manifold bolts.

Just wondering if those were ever used stock, or if someone had pulled the intake before and used those instead.

Also, why would you pull the motor, build it, and then put JUST THE BLOCK in the car. Heads and intake laying on the ground waiting to go in??????????? AHHHHH, making life hard.

I just installed my headers and the stock exhaust manifold bolts had washers like you describe.

The only reason I can think of for installing the block first is there would be more room to work. After installing the block, then drop in the heads and intake.

Have fun putting the project back together.

Re: intake manifold bolts...

Those bolts with the thick washers are the 4 outside bolts on the stock exhaust manifolds.

Re: intake manifold bolts...

Im pretty sure the exhaust manifold bolts were a smaller diameter than the Intake manifold. I also think all my manifold bolts had the thick washers.

If the bolts torqued fine i wouldnt worry about it

Nah, just about everything that bolts to the head is 3/8-16 thread.

Re: intake manifold bolts...

Yes everything was TQ sequenced according to my service manuals, so thats good. Im not too worried about it, the intake is holding and the headers are on there with the supplied bolts. All is well i guess.

Thanks everyone
