Smile Intake Mainfold Gasket - GM or Felpro? Permatext Right Stuff?

Time to do the dreaded intake manifold leak repair again (3rd times the charm) after a good 10yrs.

Anyone try the Felpro gasket instead of the GM?

FEL-PRO Part # MS95580 $13.11
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=125666

Looks like the Felpro kit gives the TB, EGR & Intake MF gaskets, new o-rings for injectors and sealant.

Also, the searches online it seems that there is a new Permatex sealant.
Permatex The Right Stuff Gasket Maker is the new way to go.

This could very well be my last intake manifold repair for another 10yrs?

I can't use intake gaskets with silicone beads because I use the LT4 performance gaskets, so I spray my gaskets with Coppercoat and then use Right Stuff for the China walls. It's a good combination for that type of gasket.

I like that kit and the silicon in the kit works just fine.
I do not like the blue Felpro gaskets as I several friends and myself all had them delaminate the bead came loose and sucked into the port, mine an LT1 one an SBC and another a BBC.

Right Stuff is not that new, been around awhile and is a quality product.

I personally prefer GM LT1 intake gaskets. I don't know what type Autozone stocks, but I did pickup a set of them and they were no where near the quality of the GM units. The right stuff is very good.

I like the GM gaskets as well over the Felpros. They are much more robust.

I like the GM ones too but the Felpro kit with the grey gaskets works just fine too.

Victor-Reinz, they make them for GM and they are cheaper than the GM ones. You can get them at NAPA, I'll check for a part # if you want? I have it at home....

I also use a chisel to make a line in the "great wall" front and back, so the Copper silicone has something to stick to.... I did this my 3rd time and have not had to do it again....
Good Luck
