intake gasket..which one will stop the leak?

I've had my heads ported by Lloyd and ever since my intake has been sucking oil into two of my cylinders. I believe that the heads were only milled .004 I've put the Fel-Pro 1284's on three different times and no luck. I recently talked to a professional mechanic and he said that the intake gaskets from GM should are better and should solve my problem. Should I give that a try or maybe try something else? Thanks

go to a local toyota dealership and go to there parts department and get there version of RTV it's called FLP i believer. just ask for there liquid gasket maker. use that along w/ the real gaskets and i promise you will not leak. it's black in color too and comes in a white tube i believe. great for fixing the pesky front intake leak.

The leak on the intake should be easy to do. Just make sure you put a bead about 1/4" thick on the front and rear of the intake. I used Ultra Copper. It hasnt leaked since I did the rebuild. Just make sure you clean both the intake and the block of the old RTV. I used felpro gaskets for my intake ports and didnt have a problem...

I would also suggest again using RTV and a gasket, usually the mixture of the two results in the RTV eating away the gasket due to a chemical reaction. Use one or the other, not both. Unless the gasket says you can.

Re: intake gasket..which one will stop the leak?

Thanks for the replies but Z95m6 has it right. It's my intake to head seal that is giving me problems. I've been using about a quart of oil every 500 miles or so. The leak isn't horrible but it is leaking and causing my plugs to show it. I can also see oil residue on the runners of my head. Like I mentioned before, I just don't know if I should try a different gasket or have to go as far as doing a port matching job which I would rather not do right now.

Everyone is talking about sealing the front and back of the intake to the block. I've used felpro intake gasket sets, and i've used GM intake gasket sets through thunder racing and the GM's were noticably thicker.

i answered his question and noted that it also works great for that front leak.

That's what I was told about the GM gaskets but didn't know for sure if it was actually the case. I took a straight edge to the heads and intake and they don't seem to be warped. So maybe giving the GM gaskets a try is a good idea. Thanks for the good info Z95m6!

I did try putting sealant on the intake gasket like you said Mustang4Lunch2, and it was noticibly better but still leaked. I just want to fix this without having to modify the gasket if possible. Thanks for the info though!

Ok, I'll give it a try if the GM gasket doesn't do the job. I've never heard of anyone using that particular sealant before. Sounds like it's pretty good stuff though. Thanks!

You may need to have the intake milled, do a search, mine leaked in EVERY cylinder, so its getting milled right now.

I had the same problem and ultimately used RTV to seal everything up. The GM gaskets I believe are plastic. Then Felpro makes 2 gaskets one of which is 1/8" thick and the other 1/4" thick.
