Installing a Tach

how hard is it to install a aftermarket tach?

Not hard at all. Even easier if you have an MSD box or other ignition box with a tack output. There is usually just a power, ground, light and reference wire (for the actual RPMs). If you do not have an ignition box, the reference wire hooks to the negative coil wire.
